About 140 km from Hanoi, Lac village is hidden in the valley, surrounded by mountains of the same message and mist covered with fuzzy. Over the history of more than 700 years, Lac village has become a symbol of the cultural identity of the white Thai people, attracting a lot of domestic and foreign tourists - a must-see spot when taking Mai Chau - Pu Luong tours.
Previously, when Lac village was not widely known, people here did not know about tourism service activities. They mainly belong to 5 family lines of Thai ethnic people: Ha, Vi, Mac, Loc, Lo and live mainly on the activities of growing rice, upland, raising livestock and weaving brocade. Later, when the beauty of Lac village was discovered and quickly became famous, the number of tourists coming to this place increased. People here started to know about the business by renting houses to tourists to stay overnight and catering services, rental of clothes, cars, and etc.
The stilt houses here are all kind of tall houses, about 2 meters from the ground, supported by solid wooden pillars. The roof is covered with bamboo leaves or rattan leaves. The windows are large in size, have just received cool breeze and a spacious place to hang baskets of decorative orchids for the house. Currently, the stilt houses used in this business have been much improved in terms of construction materials as well as being fully equipped with facilities, but still retaining the original beauty and original rustic.
